Boys Choir of Harlem sings at U.N. benefit

NEW YORK, June 25 (UPI) -- The Boys Choir of Harlem headlines a benefit concert at New York City's Lincoln Center for the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization.

Sponsored by the international nonprofit group, World Culture Open, the Third New York International Choral Festival will feature a musically rich and culturally diverse repertoire from traditional Korean to contemporary Gershwin to classical Handel and soulful Gospel.

The festival hopes to raise nearly $50,000 for the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization's efforts, which pays for small, sustainable projects that help farmers produce more food for their families and communities.

Other choral groups performing at Tuesday's fundraiser at Alice Tully Hall are: Young People's Chorus of New York City, Jewish People's Philharmonic Chorus, Pyongtaek University Chorus and the Hai-tien Chorus.
