Eagles show Down Under live on new DVD

DALLAS, June 14 (UPI) -- The Eagles wingspan stretches wide -- all the way to Australia, in fact, with a new concert DVD that's anything but a farewell to fans.

The long-lived American rock group filmed its new concert DVD, "Farewell I Tour -- Live From Melbourne," in November 2004. The title of the two-disc set comes from the jokingly titled tour the group began in 2003, but singer-drummer Don Henley says the Australian audience is one of the reasons the Eagles continue to tour.

"Some people seem to be surprised we have such a following over there, but we've been cultivating that market since the mid- to late-'70s," he says. "We have an enormous following in Australia. I think we did five shows in Melbourne this time, broke the box office record for a non-Australian band.

"We thought it would be a good place to do it, just to give it a little international flavor."

The Eagles will be re-grouping in Los Angeles in July to continue work on a new studio album, its first since 1979's "The Long Run." The group starts a West Coast tour Aug. 11 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
