Tamblyn looks ahead after 'Joan' gets ax

NEW YORK, June 7 (UPI) -- Actress Amber Tamblyn is in good spirits even though her acclaimed CBS drama, "Joan of Arcadia," was recently canceled after two seasons.

The former "General Hospital" star, who can be seen now on the big screen in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," told reporters in New York she is trying to follow the advice of her dad, veteran actor Russ Tamblyn, which is, "Onward and upward."

"That's the nature of this business and it would be a mystery to everybody why the show was canceled," she noted. "It's kind of one of those 'My So-Called Life' situations where everybody loved it. It got Emmy nominations and stuff and then it was gone. CBS found something that it wanted in place of that."

Tamblyn revealed talking about her new movie for the past few weeks has helped take the sting out of the cancellation of "Joan."

"I'm in a very great position to once again be doing promotion for something that I am so proud of -- where I felt the same way about 'Joan' when I was first promoting it," she said.
