LOS ANGELES, June 7 (UPI) -- Actor Tom Cruise Tuesday was named the winner of the 2005 Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for excellence in film.

The award will be formally presented to Cruise by the Los Angeles chapter of the British Academy of Film & Television in Los Angeles Nov. 10, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.

Former honorees include director Martin Scorsese and two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman.
