LOS ANGELES, June 7 (UPI) -- Actor Tom Cruise Tuesday was named the winner of the 2005 Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for excellence in film.
The award will be formally presented to Cruise by the Los Angeles chapter of the British Academy of Film & Television in Los Angeles Nov. 10, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.

Former honorees include director Martin Scorsese and two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman.
Cruise starred with his wife at the time, Nicole Kidman, in "Eyes Wide Shut," Kubrick's last project before his death in March 1999.
