MONTERRAY, Mexico, June 6 (UPI) -- A weekend concert in Mexico billed as The Three Tenors turned out to be Two Tenors and a Sub, it was reported Monday.
Luciano Pavarotti was forced to pull out of the concert in Monterray due to a bout of laryngitis, the BBC reported.
Instead of Pavarotti, tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras were joined by Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez and two mariachi bands.
More than 40,000 people -- including Mexican President President Vicente Fox and Guatemalan President Oscar Berger turned out for show.
Many people who arrived at the site to find they were without seats disrupted the show several times with chants of "fraud," the BBC said.
