Worker paid to watch 'The Dukes of Hazard'

BRISTOL, Tenn., June 4 (UPI) -- A singer/songwriter and part-time temporary worker in New York City has won $100,000 to stay home and watch "The Dukes of Hazard" on cable's CMT.

Before a crowd of thousands of "The Dukes of Hazard" fans at CMT's DukesFest 2005 at the Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway, in Bristol, Tenn., Ben "Cooter" Jones announced Saturday that the CMT Good Ol' Boys & Gals Executive Search Team has chosen Christopher Nelson as the vice president, CMT Dukes of Hazard Institute.

"Being paid $100,000 to stay home and watch my favorite show is a dream come true," Nelson said.

The position requires the execution of a one-year, $100,000 independent contractor agreement. Among Nelson's responsibilities are:

-- Watching "The Dukes of Hazard" every weeknight on CMT.

-- Knowing the words to the show's theme song, "Good Ol' Boys" written and performed on the series by Waylon Jennings.

-- Serving as media expert on "The Dukes of Hazard" in media interviews.

-- Writing "The Dukes of Hazard" online blog at http://www.CMT.com.

-- Making appearances at special events such as CMT's DukesFest.

CMT, a U.S. country music network, carries original programming, specials and live concerts and events.
