LOS ANGELES, June 4 (UPI) -- "Confetti," a comedy featuring British comedic talents, about couples competing to win a bridal magazine contest, has been acquired by Fox Searchlight.

Written and directed by Debbie Isitt, of "Nasty Neighbors," the movie follows three couples vying for the title of "Most Original Wedding of the Year."

The cast includes Martin Freeman, of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy;" Jessica Stevenson, of "Shaun of the Dead;" Stephen Mangan of "Green Wing;" Felicity Montagu, of "I'm Alan Partridge;" and comedian Jimmy Carr in his first screen performance.

"From minute one, we were immediately enamored with 'Confetti's' unique concept and witty execution," said Fox Searchlight Pictures President Peter Rice.

"With 'Confetti' we look forward to both working with BBC Films and Wasted Talent, and continuing the extraordinary success we have experienced with previous British comedies like 'The Full Monty,' 'Waking Ned Devine' and 'Bend it Like Beckham.'"
