LOS ANGELES, May 20 (UPI) -- Father and son actors Tom and Colin Hanks have signed on to star in writer/director Sean McGinly's "The Great Buck Howard."
McGinly, writer of "Venemous" and "Scorned 2," cast the actors a hapless magician and his assistant struggling to find fame and fortune as professional magic-makers, MTV.com reported.
Tom Hanks, who won Oscars for his roles in "Forrest Gump" and "Philadelphia," will produce "Buck Howard" through his Playtone production company. Colin, who starred in 2002 teen comedy "Orange County," will be sharing the screen with his father for the first time other than a brief appearance in "That Thing You Do!"
The film, which also stars Kevin Kline, is scheduled to begin pre-production next month, and principal photography in September.
