'Monster-in-Law' tops U.S. box office

HOLLYWOOD, May 15 (UPI) -- New Line's "Monster-in-Law" grossed $24 million its debut week and topped the U.S. box office, estimated boxofficemojo.com Sunday.

In its premier week, Universal's "Kicking and Screaming" grossed $21 million and Focus' "Unleashed" grossed $10.6 million.

"Kingdom of Heaven" made $9.6 million for a total box office of $35 million, while "Crash" made $7.2 million for a total box office of $20 million and "House of Wax" made $6 million for a total box office of $22 million.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" made $4.8 million for a total box office of $43 million, while "The Interpreter" made $4.4 million for a total box office of $61 million and "XXX: State of the Union" made $2.2 million for a total box office of $24 million.

"Mindhunters" grossed $2 million its debut week.
