Chinese stations agree to censor ads

BEIJING, May 15 (UPI) -- Twenty-three Chinese radio and TV stations have agreed to refuse all advertisements that break the law or flout moral standards.

Xinhua, the official government news agency, said that the broadcasters signed on to a statement drawn up by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. The agency urged the stations to stick to the principle of "one-vote veto by censor" for all advertisements that do not meet their standards of accuracy.
