'Six Feet Under' shifts to Mondays

LOS ANGELES, May 5 (UPI) -- "Six Feet Under" will move from Sunday nights to Mondays when it returns for its fifth and final season, HBO announced Thursday.

The cable channel said the Emmy-winning drama will have its season premiere on June 6. All 12 of the series' new episodes will be shown on Monday nights.

"Six Feet Under" -- created by the Oscar-winning screenwriter of "American Beauty, Alan Ball -- has been nominated for 39 Emmys in its first four season. It has won seven Emmys, including a directing award for Ball and an acting award for Patricia Clarkson in 2002.

HBO said cast regulars Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall, Rachel Griffiths, Frances Conroy, Lauren Ambrose, Freddy Rodriguez, Mathew St. Patrick, James Cromwell and Justina Machado would return for the show's final season.

Guest stars for the upcoming season include Clarkson, Kathy Bates, Veronica Cartwright, Joanna Cassidy, Ileana Douglas, Richard Jenkins, Catherine O'Hara, Lili Taylor and Jeremy Sisto.
