ABC renews 'Grey's Anatomy' for 2005-06

LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- ABC has renewed its new Sunday night offering "Grey's Anatomy" for the 2005-06 season, Daily Variety said Wednesday.

The show has been a hot property for ABC since it was launched as a midseason replacement in January, capitalizing on the strong ratings lead-in provided by the network's breakout hit "Desperate Housewives." Variety said the medical drama has drawn an average audience 17.8 million viewers.

ABC has previously announced that it will renew "According to Jim," "Alias," "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Boston Legal," "Desperate Housewives," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "Lost" for 2005-2006.
