Justin Timberlake to appear in 'Shrek 3'

LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- Singer Justin Timberlake is to join actress Cameron Diaz, his girlfriend, in the new U.S. animated movie "Shrek 3."

Timberlake will provide the voice of a young King Arthur, known as "Artie," a high school student with no interest in becoming the king, according to producer Aron Warner.

Warner said Diaz, who is the voice of Shrek's wife, Fiona, had no say in Timberlake's new job, USA Today reported Monday.

"Our desire was to get somebody who is visible and had their own persona to bring to the table," Warner said. "Justin fit that bill perfectly." A poster of "Sir Justin" hung in the girlhood bedroom of Fiona in "Shrek 2."

Shrek, voiced by Mike Myers, must teach Timberlake's character to be king.
