Pacino to voice 'Scarface' video game

NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- Although he didn't appear in "Godfather the Game," Al Pacino will voice his starring character Tony Montana for Vivendi Universal's "Scarface the Game."

In the game, the bullet-riddled gun-toting, cocaine-dealing, Cuban-American gangster has been resuscitated, so players pick up where the 1983 movie left off, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Play moves through Miami and various Caribbean locations, negotiating business deals, smuggling contraband and avoiding the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The game features original movie cast members Steven Bauer (Manny Ray) and Robert Loggia (Frank Lopez), Jay Mohr, Cheech Marin, James Woods, and Michael York.

Earlier this year, Pacino was conspicuously absent from the announced cast of the "Godfather the Game," which features the voices of Marlon Brando, James Caan and Robert Duvall.

'September' loses idol status for Robinson

LOS ANGELES, April 21 (UPI) -- The "American Idol" field has been narrowed to six with the elimination of New Jersey middle school music teacher Anwar Robinson, MTV.com reports.

The 1970s disco-themed competition was Robinson's last after his rendition of Earth, Wind & Fire's "September," which MTV described as "uneven."

Before viewer voting began, judge Simon Cowell set the tone, saying "I don't think it was a winning performance."

While he was an early favorite of judge Paula Abdul and a front-runner among oddsmakers, the 25-year-old Robinson netted the fewest viewer votes, leaving six finalists before the show's finale, scheduled for May 24 and 25.

Vonzell Solomon, Carrie Underwood, Bo Bice, Constantine Maroulis, Scott Savol and Anthony Fedorov are the remaining would-be pop stars.

Chenoweth will portray Springfield when she made her most acclaimed album, "Dusty in Memphis," which featured songs such as "Son of a Preacher Man," Zap2it.com reported Thursday.

Throughout her career, Springfield battled substance abuse and had a minor return to fame when she joined the Pet Shop Boys on 1990's "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" She died of cancer in 1999 at the age of 59.

Chenoweth currently guest stars as deputy press secretary Annabeth Schott on NBC's "The West Wing." On the big screen, she will appear in the upcoming "Bewitched," "The Pink Panther" and "Running With Scissors."
