ABC reportedly investigating American Idol

NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- ABC News is reportedly digging into the inner workings of Fox's hot show, American Idol, for an expose to be aired during May sweeps.

Daily Variety reports that insiders at Fox say that ABC News has been on the phone for comment.

Variety says that reporters for ABC's Primetime Live are still digging and suggests they are examining the relationships between judges and contestants on Idol.

ABC may be planning to air the show as a Primetime Live special outside of the show's usual time of 10 p.m. Thursday.
