NEW YORK, April 20 (UPI) -- Rapper Jay-Z has put his name on a nearly $70,000, eight-sided timepiece made by exclusive French watchmaker Audemars Piguet.
The handcrafted timepiece, which was introduced in New York, comes with an engraved Apple iPod into which Jay-Z's albums already are loaded, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.
"Hip hop is an aspiration," said Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter. "I wanted a classy watch."
The rap star, now president and chief executive officer of Def Jam Recordings, has a personal fortune near $300 million.
Only 100 watches bearing the name Royal Oak Offshore Jay-Z 10th Anniversary Limited Edition will be made.
The timepieces, powered by kinetic wrist movements, come in three versions: stainless steel for $23,500, rose gold for $43,900 and platinum for $69,500.
