Chris Tucker's church run ends in arrest

ATLANTA, April 20 (UPI) -- "Rush Hour" star Chris Tucker said he wanted to get to church on time and didn't see or hear the Georgia State Patrol police car that was chasing him.

Tucker played a cop in his series of "Rush Hour" films, but ran afoul of the law early Sunday when state police clocked Tucker's 2005 Bentley traveling at more than 100 mph about 90 miles outside of Atlanta.

It took five miles for the trooper to catch up, but police told Celebrity Justice Tucker did not stop. Speeds topped 120 mph and Tucker only pulled over 12 miles later, when two trucks got in his way.

The Georgia State Patrol arrested and jailed Tucker on charges of fleeing and attempting to elude in addition to speeding.

Authorities said Tucker apologized and said he was trying to make an 11 a.m. church service in North Carolina. Tucker also claimed he neither saw flashing lights nor heard sirens as police chased him.
