LOS ANGELES, April 8 (UPI) -- George Clooney and Cate Blanchett are in talks to star in "The Good German" for director Stephen Soderbergh, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.
The paper described the project as a romantic thriller about an American journalist covering the Allied summit meeting on splitting up control of post-World War II Germany, who has his own personal agenda of finding a lost love. When the body of a U.S. soldier turns up in the Russian zone, the reporter is caught up in a murder mystery.

Clooney and Soderbergh are producing the picture for Warner Bros. Pictures through their Section Eight production company.
