Maria Bello joins cast of 'Flicka' remake

LOS ANGELES, April 7 (UPI) -- Maria Bello has joined the cast of "Flicka," Fox 2000's remake of the 1943 Roddy McDowell feature "My Friend Flicka," The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.

Bello most recently starred with Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne in "Assault on Precinct 13." The paper said Danny Pino ("Cold Case") and Dallas Roberts ("A Home at the End of the World") have also joined the cast.

Tim McGraw, Ryan Kwantan and Alison Lohman had already been cast in the newest adaptation of novelist Mary O'Hara's book "Flicka," which was also made into a TV series in the 1950s.

Lohman stars as a teenager who dreams of running the family ranch. McGraw and Bello will play her parents.
