Hollywood Chamber honors Melissa Gilbert

LOS ANGELES, April 7 (UPI) -- The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will present Screen Actors Guild president Melissa Gilbert with its Lifetime Achievement Award, the chamber said Thursday.

Gilbert will receive the award at the chamber's annual awards luncheon on April 28, in recognition of a career that spans more than three decades.

Gilbert broke into Hollywood with her star-making role as Laura Elizabeth Ingalls in the long-running NBC hit "Little House on the Prairie." She has also starred in such TV movies as "The Miracle Worker" (1979); "The Diary of Anne Frank" (1980); and "Two Babies: Switched at Birth (1999).

Gilbert has served as president of SAG since 2001, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
