Notorious B.I.G. biopic in the works

LOS ANGELES, April 1 (UPI) -- Eight years after he was gunned down in Los Angeles, the rapper Notorious B.I.G. is headed for the big screen.

MTV.com reports that the project is a joint effort by Biggie's mother, Voletta Wallace, rapper P. Diddy and Antoine Fuqua, director of "Training Day."

B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace and sometimes known as Biggie Smalls, was killed six months after another notorious gangster rapper, Tupac Shakur. Shakur was the subject of a recent documentary, "Tupac Resurrection."

Wayne Barrow, manager for Wallace and Notorious B.I.G.'s estate, said that the group is talking to several studios and have recruited Cheo Hodari Coker, author of a B.I.G. biography, to do the screenplay.

Then there's the question of a star.

"It's going to be challenging to cast a B.I.G.," Barrow told MTV.
