GAZA, April 1 (UPI) -- Two Palestinian youth were injured by Israeli army fire in southern Gaza after walking out from a mosque following Friday prayers, a Palestinian medic said.

Witnesses said the incident occurred in the Amal neighborhood in the city of Khan Younes when Israeli troops in control towers outside the Jewish settlement of Jani Taal opened fire towards the Palestinian region.

The boys, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old, suffered light injuries and were rushed to the local hospital.

The incident is the first in weeks after the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian factions agreed to observe an unofficial cease-fire with Israel until the end of the year.
