NEW YORK, March 27 (UPI) -- Queen Latifah says if she leaves show business, she could open a hair salon after learning to style hair for the her role in the U.S. movie "Beauty Shop."
The former rapper said she learned to cut and color like a pro for her role as stylist Gina in "Beauty Shop," a role she originated in last year's "Barbershop 2: Back in Business," the New York Daily News reported Sunday.
Latifah and other actors in the movie spent two weeks at the Golden Touch salon in Inglewood, Calif., learning the nuts and bolts of hair styling.
"I used to trim my hair way back in the day," says Latifah. "I would use three mirrors and shape the back and sides of my head. It was kinda fun to learn the proper way to do it."
"Beauty Shop" opens Wednesday in U.S. movie theaters.
