CHICAGO, March 24 (UPI) -- "Saturday Night Live" alumnus and Chicagoland native Ana Gasteyer will play Elphaba in the Windy City run of the Broadway musical "Wicked."
After productions from April 29 to June 12, the cast will move to Los Angeles then return June 24 for an open-ended run at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre, the Chicago Tribune said Thursday.
Gasteyer, a six-year "Saturday Night Live" regular and Northwestern University graduate, has played Fanny Brice in a Pittsburgh revival of "Funny Girl" and sings in the upcoming Showtime TV musical version of "Reefer Madness."
"Wicked" will also feature Steppenwolf Theatre Co. member Rondi Reed as sorcery instructor Madame Morrible and fellow Chicagoan Gene Weygandt as a rather sinister Wizard of Oz.
