"Mrs. Parker Bowles's wishes have been made clear from the start -- that she does not wish to take the title of queen and the prince is in full agreement," spokesman Paddy Harverson said.

Earlier this week there was a media flurry over British government officials saying Parker Bowles would automatically become queen once Queen Elizabeth renounces the throne or dies.

But Harverson said despite the law, etiquette comes first.

"Mrs. Parker Bowles can, as she wishes, be referred to as Princess Consort, rather than queen, without legislation," he said.

Charles and Camilla will be married April 8 in a London civil ceremony with each of their eldest sons acting as witnesses.
