Gail Berman leaves Fox for Paramount

LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Gail Berman has resigned as president of entertainment at Fox TV to take a top position with Paramount Pictures, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the paper said Berman has become one of the first major hires by Brad Grey, who took over as head of Paramount Pictures in January.

Berman has served as Fox entertainment president since July 2000, overseeing the arrival of such prime time hits as "American Idol," "24" and "The O.C." Before joining Fox, she developed "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Malcolm in the Middle."

The move comes just two months before Fox and the other networks are to present their prime time fall schedules to advertisers in New York.
