LOS ANGELES, March 21 (UPI) -- "Ray" won four trophies at this year's NAACP Image Awards, including outstanding picture and best actor for Jamie Foxx.

Foxx seemed "genuinely humbled" in the presence of presenters Sidney Poitier and Diahann Carroll at the ceremonies in Los Angeles Saturday night, the Hollywood Reporter said.

"This has been an absolute wonderful ride," Foxx said. "Thank you, ('Ray' director) Taylor Hackford, for having the vision on this beautiful movie of Ray Charles. You took a chance in Hollywood. They said this was a black film ... but he (Hackford) stuck to his guns for 15 years."

Kerry Washington won for best actress and Regina King was named best supporting actress for "Ray."

The 36th Annual NAACP Image Awards were taped for telecast Friday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
