NBC renews 'West Wing,' 'ER'

BURBANK, Calif., March 17 (UPI) -- NBC has has renewed five prime time shows for the 2005-06 season, including "ER" and "The West Wing," the network announced Thursday.

"ER," the hit medical drama that has anchored the network's Thursday night lineup since its 1994 premiere, has been renewed for two more years -- keeping it on the air through the 2007-08 season.

NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly also announced that the network has renewed "Crossing Jordan," "Las Vegas" and the comedy "Joey" for the upcoming season.

"The continuing quality and popularity of these series make them the mainstays of our year-to-year schedules," said Reilly.

"ER" has won a Peabody Award and 21 Emmy Awards. In its 11 seasons on NBC, the show has earned 112 Emmy nominations.

Currently in its sixth season, "The West Wing" is also a Peabody Award winner. The White House drama won a record four consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series in its first four years on the air.
