EDINBURGH, Scotland, March 17 (UPI) -- Four deadly robots have been shipped to San Francisco from Edinburgh to compete for world supremacy next week in cult TV's "Robot Wars."

Backed by a design and construction team of BAE Systems engineers, the three teenage team members who claimed the British Robot Wars championship will battle for the world title and gold medal against teams from the United States, Japan and South Korea, The Scotsman said.

The main team is made up of 17-year-old Gary Cairns, who is the robot driver, 15-year-old Callum Raeburn, and Christopher Watson, 14. They will be joined in California Wednesday by four BAE engineers.

The competition will begin Thursday and conclude Sunday at San Francisco State University.
