LOS ANGELES, March 15 (UPI) -- The syndicated "The Jane Pauley Show" is ending after only one season, Zap2it.com reported Tuesday.

NBC Universal Television Distribution says production will stop next month due to low ratings for the daytime talk show hosted by the former "Today" and "Dateline" anchor.

The show rarely cracked the 2 million-viewer mark, Zap2it.com said, prompting NBC Universal to cancel it early despite a two-year commitment.

NBC Universal released a statement saying it's "proud of the quality work Jane, the producers and the entire team at 'The Jane Pauley Show' have put forward this season."

Episodes already shot will air through the summer.
