Dawson's disorderly conduct charge dropped

NEW YORK, March 15 (UPI) -- Charges of disorderly conduct against actress Rosario Dawson during last year's Republican National Convention were dropped because she was filming a movie.

Dawson, 25, was arrested at an Eighth Avenue protest in New York City last summer while working on a shoot for the upcoming film "This Revolution" and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction.

But prosecutors told a judge Tuesday the actress was not directly involved in the protest, and her case became the 377th charge to be dismissed in relation to the GOP's political convention.

While 156 protesters have pleaded guilty, charges against nearly 1,500 people who were swept up in mass arrests have been or are expected to be dismissed.
