SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 11 (UPI) -- Singer Janet Jackson has asked a California court for protection from a man she accuses of "harassing and stalking" her for nine years.
In papers filed in Santa Monica, Calif., Jackson identifies the man as Robert Gardner of New York and says, "It's only a matter of time before he has the opportunity to harm me," "Celebrity Justice" reported.
In her declaration, Jackson said Gardner tried to attend a dress rehearsal of a "Saturday Night Live" show she was hosting last April, "armed with a box cutter, a large pair of scissors and a multi-function knife." Gardner was intercepted by security.
She also said she had received several faxes from Gardner. A preliminary injunction hearing is set for next Thursday.
