Prince Charles and Camilla shed old rings

LONDON, March 8 (UPI) -- With his second marriage looming, Britain's Prince Charles has finally taken off his wedding band, the Times of London reported Tuesday.

The Prince of Wales was photographed for the first time Monday without the gold ring he received from Princess Diana during their 1981 wedding ceremony. He took off the ring when they divorced in 1995, but put it back on his signet-ring finger after her death in 1997.

His finance, Camilla Parker Bowles, has also removed the ring she received from her former husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, 21 years ago, the newspaper said.

The couple will marry in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall April 8.

A courtier told the Times both Charles and Camilla "felt that the time was to do it (remove their rings) now."
