Ja Rule pleads guilty to hitting Canadian

TORONTO, March 8 (UPI) -- U.S. rap star Ja Rule has pleaded guilty in a Canadian court to hitting a man at a popular Toronto night spot, the Toronto Sun said Tuesday.

Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeff Atkins, was in Toronto June 5 when a group of teenagers began taunting him with shouts of "Wanksta," a contraction for "wannabe gangsta" that was used in a 50 Cent song to mock him as a phoney tough guy.

Atkins was fined $1,500 Monday for the incident and apologized for losing his temper.
