TV Land Awards honors classic TV

LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- U.S. cable's TV Land will honor "The Carol Burnett Show," "The Bob Newhart Show," and "Soul Train" during its "TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV."

The 90-minute special will premiere with a special simulcast on cable's TV Land and Nick at Nite March 16 at 9 p.m. EST.

The annual celebration that recognizes shows and stars from television's history will also honor celebrated film and television producer Aaron Spelling -- the most prolific producer in television history according to The Guinness Book of World Records. He will receive the Pioneer Award.

Those slated to appear during the show include: Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner, of "The Carol Burnett Show," as well as fashion designer Bob Mackie, who fitted Burnett with her gowns for the show.

Peter Bonerz, Bill Daily, Suzanne Pleshette and Marcia Wallace of "The Bob Newhart Show" are also to appear.
