Kilborn, Lovitz join 'Benchwarmers' cast

LOS ANGELES, March 4 (UPI) -- Craig Kilborn and Jon Lovitz will join Rob Schneider and David Spade in the cast of the baseball comedy "The Benchwarmers," Daily Variety said Friday.

The movie -- written by Allen Covert ("Eight Crazy Nights") and Nick Swardson ("Malibu's Most Wanted") -- is the story of three unathletic men who try to compensate by challenging teams of younger ballplayers. Variety said Kilborn will play the coach of a rival team and Lovitz will play a wealthy team sponsor.

Dennis Dugan ("Big Daddy," "Happy Gilmore") is directing. Shooting on the picture, which is being produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company, is scheduled to begin in April.
