NEW YORK, March 1 (UPI) -- Actor Christian Slater's Broadway appearance has been delayed by a week, World Entertainment News Network said Tuesday.

The change was made to allow the actor more time in front of an audience. Slater replaces Dallas Roberts as narrator Tom in the Tennessee Williams drama "The Glass Menagerie."

The show, which features Jessica Lange as the domineering mother Amanda Wingfield, was originally set to open March 15 at New York City's Ethel Barrymore Theatre, but will not begin until March 22.
