LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- With five early wins in the 77th Academy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday, "The Aviator" looked like the night's big winner.

"The Aviator" took Oscars for Actress in a Supporting Role (Cate Blanchett), Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume Design and Film Editing. The film was nominated in 11 categories, more than any other this year.

"The Aviator" did not win in two of the early categories in which it was nominated -- Actor in a Supporting Role and Sound Mixing. Alan Alda had been nominated for supporting actor for "The Aviator," but the Oscar went to Morgan Freeman for "Million Dollar Baby." The Oscar for Sound Mixing went to "Ray."
