Poll: Oscar to 'Ray' or 'The Aviator'

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- If left to U.S. adults instead of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscar for best picture would go to "Ray" or "The Aviator."

A nationwide Harris Poll of 1,012 U.S. adults surveyed by telephone by Harris Interactive Feb. 8-13 found 23 percent favored "Ray" for best motion picture and 21 percent said the Oscar should go to "The Aviator."

One-third of the adults say Jamie Foxx should win the award for his performance in "Ray," while Clint Eastwood in "Million Dollar Baby" was favored by 19 percent, and 12 percent thought Leonardo DiCaprio should get the Oscar for "The Aviator."

For the best actress award, 33 percent of the respondents believe the Oscar should go to Hilary Swank for her performance in "Million Dollar Baby," however, the next largest percentage -- 20 percent -- were not sure who should win the award, followed by 16 percent for Kate Winslet for her role in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."
