Sex Pistols grab British TV debut honor

LONDON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- ITN Archive experts rated the Sex Pistols' 1976 performance as the most important live pop-music debut ever on British TV, the Daily Mirror reported Tuesday.

Johnny Rotten and the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK" topped the top 10 live British TV music debuts, followed by Nirvana and Oasis.

BBC shows were excluded from the ITN Archive selection, which left out classic inaugural appearances on BBC channels from Adam And The Ants and Culture Club, the newspaper reported.
