LONDON, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, has reached a settlement with two British newspapers for falsely claiming he supported terrorism.
The Sun and Sunday Times of London had suggested that U.S. authorities had been correct to refuse Islam's entry into the United States last September after he was detained because his name appeared on a "no-fly" list, the BBC reported Tuesday.
Islam said the settlement cleared his name that he is not, and never has been, involved in or supported terrorism.
The Sunday Times and the Sun both confirmed they had reached an "agreed settlement" with Islam, but refused to disclose the amount.
Sun spokeswoman Janet Anderson said Islam's statement was correct, but declined to comment to the BBC.
