The artist formerly out of view earns big

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. pop artist Prince netted $65.45 million from concerts and CD sales last year, Rolling Stone reported Thursday.

His earnings, which came on gross revenues of $91.63 million, made him the biggest earner of any commercial artist in 2004.

The magazine said Madonna was the second biggest earner with $56 million netted from her cost-intensive Re-Invention Tour.

Metallica came in third with $43.38 million, and Elton John's was right behind the big U.S. group with nearly as much.
