The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday Doherty's record companies failed to raise the $280,000 bail money in time to release the rock star from Pentonville prison.

Doherty, former singer for the Libertines, is currently fronting for the band Babyshambles. He was arrested Wednesday evening, along with fellow musician Alan Wass.

Doherty is alleged to have punched Max Carlish, a documentary maker who had sold pictures of him to a newspaper. The frontman is also accused of stealing money from Carlish.

The rock star said he hit Carlish in self defense. He is scheduled to be released Monday.

"I'm here to become the new lead singer of INXS," Randy Robertson told the Toronto Sun as he stood in line outside the Mod Club. "I've always dreamed of being a rock star."

Robertson was one of a several hundred people who waited hours Friday to audition for the band.

The band lost its front man, Michael Hutchence, to suicide in 1997 and has tried several guest vocalists.

"This is the only chance in the world I've got because I'm too old for 'Canadian Idol,' " said Robertson, a singer from the Maritimes bar circuit. "It's the truth, this is my last chance to be a rock star."

Brad Pitt appears in Super Bowl beer ad

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Actor Brad Pitt will appear in a 60-second TV ad during the Super Bowl, seen dodging paparazzi on his way to pick up a six-pack of beer.

Fox Television is reportedly charging Heineken about $3.7 million to run the advertisement during the game to be played in Jacksonville, Fla., reported the Daily Telegraph.

The twist of the commercial, which is expected to be viewed by 90 million football fans, is that the photographers are not out to photograph the movie star, but, rather, to drink the star's beer -- a Heineken.

It's unclear how much Pitt received for the ad, but some have pegged it at more than $3 million.

Pitt has also appeared in a commercial in Europe promoting a Swiss watch, however, the ad was not shown in the United States.
