Pals say Moss, new love a bad match

LONDON, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Rocker Pete Doherty's appearance after a show at a London club left fans wondering about his pledge to give up dope for model Kate Moss.

"It was horrible," an audience member at the charity concert told the Daily Mail. "Pete arrived by car looking calm and collected and immaculately groomed. But he was like a different person when he left. He was dripping with sweat, with his hair clinging in clumps to his forehead, and just went mad."

Last week 25-year-old Doherty, a confessed crack cocaine and heroin addict, vowed to stop taking drugs for Moss, the new love of his life he met at her 31st birthday party Jan. 15.

Friends of Moss, who admitted in 1999 to having problems of her own with booze and drugs, said it's a bad match.

"Pete is not the sort of guy you'd wish for your best friend," said actress Sadie Frost. "Kate's had a history of partying hard and the two of them together would be a terrible idea."
