LONDON, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- An association of British concert and theater ticket agents is working with regulators to provide the public with reliable ticket price information.
The Office of Fair Trading, in a report issued Wednesday, said even legitimate agents are charging as much as two-thirds on top of the face value of a ticket, the Guardian reported Thursday.
The OFT said it had evidence of some ticket sellers breaking the law and employing "potentially unfair" terms and conditions, along with mark-ups as high as 600 percent on some tickets sold over the internet.
Jonathan Brown, the secretary of the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers, said: "We are increasingly concerned at levels of malpractice, misrepresentation and old-fashioned rip-offs."
He also said his group was working with the OFT on advertising guidelines so the actual cost of a ticket would be clear to any potential buyer.
