Dick Clark leaves the hospital

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Entertainer Dick Clark has left a Los Angeles-area hospital a little more than seven weeks after he suffered a stroke, a publicist for Clark said Wednesday.

Paul Shefrin said Clark, 75, went home Wednesday with his wife, Kari.

"He wanted everyone to know how much he appreciated their concern," said Shefrin.

Clark suffered what was described as a mild stroke Dec. 6, and was unable -- for the first time in 32 years -- to serve as host for the annual "New Year's Rockin' Eve" TV special on ABC.

Shefrin said Clark continues to make progress in physical therapy.

"His doctors expect a full recovery," said Shefrin, "and he expects to be back on with the New Year's show next year."
