Bidders offered Carson's boyhood home

NORFOLK, Neb., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- The man who owns Johnny Carson's boyhood home has posted the Norfolk, Neb., building on eBay in a second attempt to sell it, a report said Wednesday.

South Dakota computer technician Jim Pruett paid double the going rate, $150,000 for the small, one-bathroom home, when he bought it.

"In my world, I thought it was a gold mine," he told the Los Angeles Times. "I still do."

However, there were no takers in the first eBay foray and Pruett then gave up and rented it out.

With Carson's weekend death, Pruett decided to again test the waters with a minimum asking price of $93,500.

Norfolk residents were skeptical the house, where Carson moved with his family in 1933, would be desirable beyond being a house in the community that already has two institutions with significant Carson memorabilia. The eBay listing said the house "is sure to become one of the most beloved landmarks in America," the newspaper reported.
