LONDON, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Actress and writer Meera Syal has married her co-star Sanjeev Bhaskar in the British TV show "The Kumars At No. 42" in a simple family ceremony.

"Following enquiries, Sanjeev and Meera are happy to confirm that they did get married last week at a very quiet, family only ceremony," according to a statement issued by Syal's agent.

In the BBC comedy show, an Indian family living London has hit upon a unique method of "Keeping up with the Joneses" by building a state-of-the-art TV studio in their back yard, where they produce their own talk show.

Forty-year-old Bhaskar plays the talk show host, who struggles to interview guests while his family interrupts. Forty-three-year-old Syal plays his grandmother.
