Cost of Ali G insult: One movie director

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- An insulting prank by Sacha Baron Cohen has forced the star of HBO's "Da Ali G Show" to find a new director for his upcoming film.

Pretending to be one of his "Ali G" alter egos named Borat, an immigrant from Kazakhstan who is documenting his tour of America, Cohen volunteered to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" to kick off a rodeo in Salem, Va., Zap2it.com reported Wednesday.

In broken English, he prefaced his performance with comments such as: "I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards" and "May George W. Bush drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq."

Then he ended the anthem with the words "your home in the grave," the crowd had heard enough. Borat had to be escorted out.

Although director Todd Phillips cited "creative difference" in his decision to back out of Cohen's film, the actor's rodeo antics understandably soured the director on the project, Zap2it.com said.
